Srivilliputhur is one of the 108 Divya Desams dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is the birth place of Mother Andal, one of the 12 Alwar saints known for her devotional poetic works -- Thirupavai and Nachiar Tirumozhi.
The remarkable landmark of Srivilliputhur is 11-tiered tower structure dedicated to the Lord of Srivilliputhur, known as Vatapatrasayee, (Lord Vishnu of the Banyan Leaf). The Srivilliputhur Andal Temple is a magnificent ode to devotion, history, and architectural brilliance. It is a place where the timeless beauty of Hindu tradition is on full display and where visitors can bask in the serenity and spiritual richness of this unique temple. |
In this modern age of science and technology, there is an urgent need for imparting a strong spiritual foundation focused around the meaning a purpose of human life to prevent rapid deterioration of mankind. Dr. Singh, the founding director of Bhaktivedanta Institue and a pioneer in science-spirituality dialogue, envisioned to have such programs regularly to provide a fertile ground for promoting the interface between science and spirituality. This program is a humble attempt in this direction.
