The Bhāgavatas are pious souls who have completely surrendered to Supreme Lord. They are direct representative of Bhagavān, the Personality of Godhead.  The bhagavatam scripture says, naṣṭa-prāyeṣv abhadreṣu
nityaṁ bhāgavata-sevayā
(1.2.18), meaning: By regular listening to the scared scripture -Bhāgavatam and by rendering of service to the pure devotee(Bhagavataas), the heart is purified of all the vices.

Dr. Singh, the founding director of the Bhaktivedanta Institute who vised California for his PhD program. He had an accidental encounter with the saint- scholar Srila A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda. This meeting and  association with the divine soul led to transformation of Dr.T. D. Singh. Deriving inspiration from the life of Dr. T. D. Singh, the course program on 'Life and Teachings of Bhagavatas' is designed to help us remember these great souls who traversed this planet, making it more scared by their glorious appearance and spread the message of love and peace.  It is said that, such discussions are indeed highly purifying and uplifts one in the quest for truth and enhances one's faith.

Human reason fails to understand how by serving the devotee Bhāgavata or the book Bhāgavata one gets gradual promotion on the path of devotion.It is by  sincere association of the Bhāgavatas one is sure to receive transcendental knowledge about he absolute truth and make sift progress in one's spiritual journey.

As stated in Śvetāśvatara Upaniṣad (verse 6.23) yasya deve parā bhaktir yathā deve tathā gurau | tasyaite kathitā hy arthāḥ prakāśante mahātmanaḥ || Meaning: “Only unto those great souls who have implicit faith in both the Lord and the spiritual master are all the imports of the Vedic knowledge automatically revealed.”
