The Inception of the Course
The scientific study of Bhagavad-Gita was one of the important projects conceived by
Dr. T. D. Singh . Dr. Singh in one of his letter remarked, "The Bhaktivedanta Institute is an attempt to fulfill this is basic necessity of utmost importance. There are hundreds of departments of knowledge for advanced study in thousands of institutions all over the world, but there is practically not a single department dealing with science of Atma, the "self'", and the relation between jivatama (individual self) and Paramatma (Supersoul). Ironically, atmajnana, the science of self is the most important branch of knowledge. However, this branch of knowledge completely neglected and as a result everybody is struggling hard for existence. In spite of the many scientific and technological advances, people are suffering and are confused so much in all respects, scientifically, morally and ethically. The root of all these is due to the complete lack of this very science of atma and its real duty. There is, thus, a great necessity to impart this imperishable supreme science to everyone. young and old." The Bhagavata Study Course was started in the year 2014. Four batches of students have passed out since then. |
Why should you pursue this course?
With the explosive expansion of science and technology, there is also rapid deterioration of the quality of life. Hence, there is a immediate need to include applied spiritual knowledge and spiritual technology in our daily life.
Unless applied to our daily life religious knowledge has not much relevance. Religious values such as compassion, truthfulness, nonviolence, forbearance are increasingly neglected in the world today. Hence, there is a great need to hear the voices of the sages and saintly persons and timeless writings of the scriptures to restore sanity and quality of life. Dr. Singh, the founding director of the Bhaktivedanta Institute believed that our education should be holistic, inculcating a well-balanced modern scientific approach and spiritual value to students. This course is an humble attempt to carry our the profound vision of Dr.T.D.Singh |
